I’ve had a few people asking how the cob oven is doing lately… it’s doing well. We scooped out the rest of the sand from the core and the oven is now properly hollow. Like an igloo. The cob oven is drying slowly (which is good– drying to fast means shrinking and cracking) and has only developed a few hairline cracks.

We are giving the oven until the end of the week to fully dry out. Then we will light a small “drying” fire for about ten minutes, for five days or so. All the details will be in “DIY Cob Oven :: step 4″ so don’t worry.
